God is exposing the idols within our land; the devastating part is that, within the process, the Christian is being exposed. The Christian who does not walk according to the ways of God, who wants to receive salvation and entrance into God’s kingdom without surrender, a light has been shown on his/her darkness. If you are not committed to God’s will, ways, and purpose, what value do you even serve within the Kingdom? We diminish God to a beggar, desperate for followers, so He wouldn’t possibly reject me. But you are of no use to God if you won’t uphold that which is right in His eyes.
Admittedly, I have had my own misguided opinions and viewpoints, so I can speak from a personal standpoint when I say that in that state, we are of little use to Him. When I first became pregnant with my son, I was incredibly frightened. I felt like it was too early. I hadn’t accomplished enough in my life (according to my own plan, not His). I didn’t want to be a stay at home mother because I felt like our society doesn’t value that role, and in turn, neither did I. I resisted it for a long time, hunting for a job that would give me value in the eyes of society and even in my own eyes. I resisted it until I surrendered.
We always talk about God having a plan. We all have a purpose. It sounds cute, so we go with it; but the truth is, many of us are not willing to sacrifice our own beliefs and desires to truly follow Him. I had no choice but to surrender. After my son was born dead
and after my daughter died. The only options I was left with were to surrender everything to God or die. That’s how deep the trauma ran.
Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” He said to Him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:16-22 NKJV
The election has proved how many Christians are just like this rich man. They go to church, they pay their tithes, but they have not surrendered to God and will not surrender to God because they won’t let go of their own personal treasures. It’s not about money, it is about the condition of your heart. Are you worshipping with your mouth while your heart is far from Him?
When I began this process of surrender, I challenged myself to see from God’s perspective (regardless of my personal opinion). I committed to evaluating everything and consulting the Holy Spirit to see whether God was in approval or not. I challenge you to do the same. God did not approve of the Women’s March. He was not with Hillary Clinton (why would He be? She’s not a follower of Christ). He does not approve of abortion (whether you’re participating in them or simply parading around as pro-choice). And this one is tough but it’s true, He does not approve of your gay marriage (whether you’re simply supporting it or in the marriage yourself). God cannot approve of anything or anyone that stands in direct opposition to His Word.
I started to become disheartened when I was reading and hearing people’s responses to the election. I expect non-believers to be void of understanding and lack spiritual insight, but professing Christians were revealing the idols within their own lives through their political opinions and rejection of God’s ways. So really, this post is to the Believer. Consider your own ways, measure them against God’s Word. Whatever you find that does not line up with what God says, eliminate it from your thinking, mindset, and lifestyle.

A prayer of deliverance:
Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. Psalms 139:23-24 NKJV
