The Will of God: Prospering in Spite of…

Have you ever had those moments in your life when it seems like everything is working against you? Lately, I have been experiencing a high level of opposition. Probably more so than I ever have. It seems as though, in spite of my prayers, worship, efforts, the opposition is increasing. To be honest, this can be incredibly frustrating and overwhelming. It wasn’t until today that the Lord spoke to me on it when I was reading in Exodus.

But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them. Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. And he said to his people, Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land. Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh supply cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel. (Exodus 1:7-12 NKJV)

The children of Israel were growing and excelling {just as you are} and the king of Egypt took notice. In those verses alone there is a message:

  • The enemy takes notice of your growth
  • Your growth will attract opposition. It’s not that you’re doing anything wrong nor are you outside of the will of God; the enemy has just turned his attention towards you. When I say opposition I mean people, tasks, feelings, thoughts, circumstances, and anything else that is trying to stop you from moving forward.

The first thing you must do is recognize those situations as attacks from the enemy.

It then goes on to say that the increase in opposition led to an increase in their growth. Recognize attacks but don’t let them stop your growth:

  • Adopt a victorious mindset
  • When you experience opposition, you must have a certain mindset. You are probably feeling unenthused by that statement because it is seemingly obvious. But I am not talking about humility, patience, long suffering and the other typical traits we are encouraged to have in the midst of a trial. Not that those characteristics aren’t beneficial and oftentimes necessary, but those are spoken of quite frequently.

You must continue with boldness. Decide in your mind that you don’t care what the enemy throws at you; you will continue in the will of God. Not only will you continue, you will grow and prosper in spite of the opposition. You will grow and prosper because of the opposition.

Instead of allowing the opposition to slow you down, get you down, and hold you down, use what the enemy meant for your destruction as fuel for prosperity and growth.

Remember, the only power the enemy has over you, is the power you give him. If you don’t give him any power, he will be powerless against you. The opposition is growing and strengthening you and, in due time, God will deliver you from the hands of pharaoh; but, not before His glory is shown, you are strengthened, and you have pillaged pharaoh’s kingdom. Pow! Take that Satan!

This is a great message for us to remember in tought times! My husband was going through a tough time with his job, he suffered, struggled, and stayed true to his faith, and after 3 years he has transferred to a different location that is COMPLETELY opposite of what he expereinced previously. His bosses are welcoming, his team members friendly, overall the people here are FOR him, not against him as was his past experience. The three years were difficult and there were moments when he was hard pressed to maintain composure, but through our faith in God, we made it through and are now SO happy! Your message is a reminder that when we do good, when we move in faith, when prosperity is provided, people are attracted to that. I think one thing to remember is that God provides so we can teach others and bring love and prosperity to them as well. We may be there to help those who are seemingly against us.

Thank you for your testimony! All of what you said is true and I’m grateful to God for your faith in Him as well as your persistence.

I really like your point about being in a situation for the benefit of others. Sometimes we get selfish. Not even just with giving and that type of thing but we get selfish with our faith, God and His word. Sometimes we have to endure people, hardships circumstances so others can meet Him or grow. That’s kind of the season I am in. It is purely about serving. Took some getting used to especially when the people God called you to would prefer that you go away lol. But the more they fight back, the more you love.

Thanks again! Feel free to share any testimonies anywhere on here. They will minister to people! Maybe I should start a testimonies page, inspired by you!
